Nod Tips is designed with privacy in mind. While we do not require you to create a user account to leave a gratuity, certain data is collected during the transaction process to facilitate the payment, ensure security, and comply with financial regulations:

  • Payment & Demographic Data: When you leave a tip, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment method details, billing address, and related demographic information necessary for fraud prevention.
  • Analytics & Profiling: We may use the collected demographic and transaction data (such as tipping amounts and frequency) for internal analytics, user profiling, and to improve our platform's services.
  • Device Data: We may collect basic device and browser information to ensure the App Clip functions correctly and securely.

2. Payment Processing (Apple Pay & Stripe)

All transactions are securely processed directly through Apple Pay and our payment provider, Stripe. Stripe processes and stores your payment and demographic data in accordance with their own strict privacy and security policies. Nod Tips itself only receives an encrypted token confirming that the payment was successful, ensuring funds are routed to the correct service worker without our servers ever holding your raw credit card numbers. However, we reserve the right to use the metadata and demographic information associated with these transactions for ongoing business analytics and profiling.

3. Camera & NFC Usage

If our app requests access to your device's Camera or NFC reader, this is strictly used locally on your device for the sole purpose of scanning a Nod Tips QR code or NFC tag. No image data or scan history is ever transmitted to our servers or saved.

4. Worker Privacy & Data Collection

For service industry professionals ("Workers") who register an account on the Nod Tips platform, we collect and store additional information to facilitate your earnings, payouts, and account security:

  • Personal Information: We collect your name, email address, phone number, and profile picture to create your public tipping page and manage your account.
  • Financial Information: We collect your payout data and transaction history. We partner with Stripe to handle secure direct deposits. Your full banking details are securely handled by Stripe and are not stored on our servers.
  • Security Data: To protect your account and earnings, we securely store hashed passwords, biometric login tokens, and NFC Master Keys associated with your physical Nod Tips Pins.
  • Device Data: We may collect device tokens to send you real-time push notifications when you receive a tip.
